After spending 13 years at Stamford Bridge alongside John Terry and plenty of other fellow compatriots, ‘Super Frank’ was spotted on Wednesday night at JFK airport, before puting a pen to paper and agreeing a contract that ties him to the American club for two years. The 36 year old left Chelsea after 13 seasons and a club record of 211 goals and more than 500 appearances for the blues.

However, the midfielder is unsure of his career in the English national team but insisted that this signing is a new challenge and chapter for him and his family.

Let’s remind ourselves, that Frank Lampard signed a one year extension at Chelsea in 2013 after mulling over a move to LA Galaxy, who he will now play against when he starts the season with New York City FC.

Frank joins former Barcelona player David Villa and is the second international player to sign for the American club but also the likes of great former Premier League players such as Thierry Henry and David Beckham, who have played for other American football clubs as well.

Claudio Reyna who is a former Glasgow Rangers and Manchester City player and also the sporting director of New York City praised Frank Lampard’s career and described the deal as ‘very exciting’. He then added ‘Frank Lampard is one of the greatest Premier League players in European and World football over the last 15 years’.

So can the two European players Frank Lampard and David Villa help New York get their hands on the title next season? We’ll have to wait and see..
