Makeup removal: Garnier vs L’Oreal

Taking off your makeup is one of the most important parts of looking after your skin. Throughout the day, pollution in the air, oils from your hands and other bacteria can build up on your skin, therefore cleansing your face at the end of the day is an important way to combat issues that can lead to sensitive skin and break-outs.

One quick and easy way to do this is using a micellar water. These have been around for a while now and are a very popular method of removing makeup gently. Bioderma kicked off the craze with their infamous micellar water: Sensibio H2O. However as this is a French skincare brand it can be difficult and expensive to get your hands on it over here, so some more popular UK brands have jumped on the bandwagon and have released their own versions. Granted reviews have declared that they aren’t as good however, they are definitely good alternatives as a more affordable version.

I have tried out two from the high street, hailing from the popular brands, Garnier and L’Oreal. L’Oreal were the first to release with their 3in1 Purifying Micellar water at £4.99 for 200ml. I think this is a good choice for those with not so sensitive skin as it does take quite a bit to remove heavy eye makeup, especially mascara. However it does what it says on the tin and removes makeup quickly and cleanly. I would say that this can drag the skin slightly which isn’t great for your eye area, so let it soak onto the makeup for a bit before removing totally.

Next up is Garnier’s, later released, Micellar Cleansing water at £4.99 for 400ml, which is straight away double the product for the same price! Personally, I prefer this one as you can use less and achieve the same result, and it is gentler on the eyes and skin, as opposed to what L’Oreal is offering. However, neither sting the eye or leave the skin feeling tight, therefore depending on what your skin type is you can decide which would be more suitable for you!

I hope this was helpful and gives you some ideas on what to compare when looking at similar products. Check out my blog for more posts by me at beautyiwant.blogspot.co.uk.
